Local service is at the heart of Rotaract’s mission, and our many committed members make the work we do possible! Rotaract has at least one project every two weeks, giving busy members many opportunities to volunteer. We also strive to provide a variety of projects to meet the varying interests and skills of our membership, focusing on environment, education, hunger, housing, and health.

The Committee

The Local Service Committee meets roughly once every two weeks, typically on Sunday afternoons in the Michigan Union. The committee plans 7-12 events each semester, as well as larger projects such as the domestic spring break service trip. In winter of 2015, the committee planned and taught weekly science lessons for 70+ students at Estabrook Elementary School, culminating in a science fair where the students presented their projects. We always support one another, reflect on and critically discuss our service, and offer all committee members opportunities for leadership.

• Additionally, we helped with the Ann Arbor Rotary Club’s polio eradication events (march, torch lighting, and movie screening), all-access playground kick-off, and Veteran’s Day event
